Description
Alarmed by staggering declines in wildlife numbers around the continent of Africa, in tandem with unsustainable practices in safari and travel industry, African safari innovator Coling Bell and naturalist writer David Bristow designed this project to assess the safari industry throughout sub-Saharan Africa. The result is Africa’s Finest, a book that showcases the most responsible and sustainable safari operations on the continent. It presents those who do good, some of those who do bad, and then it offers a blueprint for the ideal safari industry, showing best practices in terms of green operations, nature conservation and community partnerships.
If this blueprint is followed, replicated and improved on over time, and the safari industry undergoes a complete make-over, the continent’s wild places, wild animals and the rural communities still reliant on them have a chance of surviving the 21st century. Africa’s Finest offers a light at the end of the safari tunnel.
